SIM Card

The SIM card contains your phone number, service details, and phonebook/message memory. Your device supports both 1.8V and 3V SIM cards.You need to remove the back cover before you can install the SIM card, battery, and storage card. Also, make sure to always turn off the power before installing or replacing the SIM card and battery.

Battery

Your device comes with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and is designed to use only manufacturer-specified original batteries and accessories. Battery performance depends on many factors, including network configuration, signal strength, and usage patterns.

Warning!

To reduce risk of fire or burns:

  • Do not attempt to open, disassemble, or service the battery pack.
  • Do not crush, puncture, short external contacts, or dispose of in fire or water.
  • Do not expose to temperatures above 60°C (140°F).
  • Replace only with the battery pack designated for this product.
  • Recycle or dispose of used battery as stipulated by local regulations.

Charging the Battery

Warning!

Do not remove the battery from the device while you are charging it using the AC or car adapter.

As a safety precaution, the battery stops charging before it overheats.

After installing your SIM card and battery and charging the battery, you can now power on and start using your device.

To have additional storage for your images, videos, music, and files, you can purchase a microSD™ card and install it into your device.

Home Screen

The default home screen of the device is the TouchFLO™ 3D Home screen which allows finger-touch access to the most important functions such as favorites, contacts, text messages, e-mail, internet, and more.

The HOME tab displays:

  1. current date
  2. a flip-style clock
  3. alarm icon that indicates whether alarm is on or off
  4. Missed calls and upcoming calendar appointments.

To switch between the tabs of the HOME screen do any of the following:

  1. Touch or tap the desired tab, press and hold finger, slide finger left or right over the tabs. Release when you have selected the desired tab. OR
  2. Swipe left across the screen to move to the next tab, and swipe right across the screen to move the previous tab.

Start Screen

The start screen, which can be opened by touching Start on the top-left corner of the screen or by pressing the START button, gives you one-touch access to all the programs and settings of your Windows Mobile-powered device. You can also add the shortcut icons of your favorite programs in the Start screen so you can open them quickly.

Making Phone Calls

To make a call, you can either dial a number or select a contact that you want to call.

Tips
  • If you tapped a wrong number while dialling, tap "<— " to erase each subsequent digit of a number. To erase the entire number, tap and hold "<—".
  • When in a call, use the VOLUME UP/VOLUME DOWN buttons on the side of the device to adjust the phone volume.

Calling Voice Mail

Number 1 is generally reserved for your voice mail. Tap and hold this button on the Phone screen keypad to call voice mail and retrieve your voice mail messages.

Answering and Ending Calls

When you receive a phone call, the Incoming Voice Call screen will appear, allowing you to either answer or ignore the call.

Text Messages

Setting up an Internet E-mail Account

Set up your personal e-mail account such as Yahoo mail or AOL on your device.

  1. On the Home screen, slide to the Mail tab, and then tap New Account at the bottom-right of the screen. The Mail Setup screen appears.
  2. Enter the e-mail address and password, then tap Next.
  3. Enter your name and the account display name, then tap Next. Mail Setup then searches for the e-mail provider settings on your device. If the settings are not found, you will be prompted to enter the e-mail account settings manually. Obtain the e-mail account settings from your e-mail provider.
  4. Tap the Automatic Send/Receive time, and then choose how frequently you want e-mail messages to be automatically sent and downloaded on your device.
  5. Select or clear an advanced setting according to your preference, and the tap Done. New e-mail messages that you receive in the created account are displayed on the Mail tab.
  6. If you have more e-mail accounts to add, tap Menu> Accounts> New Account on the Mail tab and repeat steps 2 to 5.

To create and send an e-mail message

  1. On the right side of the Mail tab, tap an e-mail account that you want to use.
  2. Tap ( pic of email icon) to create a new e-mail.
  3. Enter the e-mail address of the recepient and the subject line.
  4. Enter the e-mail message and then tap Send.

Using Wi-Fi

If you have access to wireless internet, you can use Wi-Fi to connect your device to the internet.

To turn Wi-Fi on and connect to a Wi-Fi network

  1. Tap Start>Settings
  2. At the bottom right of the screen click on "Menu>All Settings" and then tap on Connections.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi. Detected wireless networks are displayed on the screen.
  4. Tap the desired Wi-Fi network to connect to,

 

Mobile Internet

Experience desktop-like surfing when using Opera Mobile to browse the internet. You can also watch YouTube videos right on your device.

Opera Mobile

  1. On the Home screen, slide to the Internet tab, and then tap Launch Browser to launch Opera Mobile.
  2. Tap the address bar, enter the desired web site address and the tap (enter icon here).
  3. To zoom in on the web page, double-tap the screen or slide your finger right on the zoom bar.

YouTube

  1. On the Start screen, scroll down to find the YouTube icon.
  2. Tap on the YouTube icon
  3. Tap a video on the screen to watch it.
  4. To find a video, tap on the 'magnifier' and enter the name of the video.
  5. While watching a video tap on the screen to access the playback controls.

Calendar

To create an appointment

  1. Tap Start> Calendar to open the Calendar tab  and tap New.
  2. Enter the name of the appointment, specify location.
  3. If there is a time frame for the appointment then enter start and end date and times. If it is a special occasion such a birthday, set the All Day Event option to Yes.
  4. When finished tap OK to return to the Calendar tab.

Photos and Videos

Capturing Photos and Recording Video

  1. To use the Camera and take a photo-Open the Camera screen.
  2. On the Home screen, slide to the Photos and Videos tab and then tap the camera icon (***). The screen orientation automatically switches to landscape mode when you open Camera.
  3. Aim the device at the subject.
  4. Touch Virtual Camera button (***) to activate the Auto focus. When focus is set, the camera automatically take the shot.
  5. To close the camera-Tap the On-screen control button (***), and then tap (**).
  6. To change the capture mode to video- Tap (***), then tap the capture mode icon (****) that you want to use.
  7. Aim the device at the subject.
  8. Touch the Virtual Camera button (***) to activate auto focus. When focus is set the camera automatically starts capturing video.
  9. To stop capturing video, touch the Virtual Camera button again.

To view Photos and Videos

  1. Use Album to view photos and videos in your device.
  2. On the Home screen, slide the Photos and Videos tab, and then tap Album.
  3. To view the next or previous photo in the album-Swipe your finger across the screen from right to left.

Synchronization Your Device with your Computer

To set up synchronization software on your computer

Depending on your computer's operating system, you need to install either Microsoft ActiveSyn 4.5 ( or later) or Windows Mobile Device Control to your computer so you can synchrnonize information and files.

To synchronize your device with a Windows XP computer

  1. Install ActiveSync 4.5 on your computer from the Getting Started Disc.
    • Place the Getting Started disc into the disc drive of your computer.
    • Click Setup and Installation
    • Select the ActiveSync check box, then click Install.
    • Read the license terms, then click Accept
    • When installation is completed, click Done
    • On the Getting Started with Windows Mobile screen, click Close.
  2. Connect your device to your computer using the supplied USB cable. The Synchronization Setup Wizard automatically starts and guides you to create a synchronization partnership. Click Next.
  3. Clear the Synchronize directly with a server running Microsoft Exchange check box, then click Next.
  4. Select the information that you want to synchronize, then click Next.
  5. Select or clear the Allow wireless data connections check box according to your preference.
  6. Click Finish.

To synchronize your device with a Windows Vista computer

  1. Connect your device to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Windows Mobile Device Center opens. On the screen, click Set up your device.
  2. Select the information you want to synchronize and click Next.
  3. Enter the name for your device and the click Setup

When you finish the wizard, ActiveSync synchronizes your device automatically. Notice that Outlook e-mail messages and other information appear on your device after synchronization.

To synchronize Music Files

Synchronize music files from your computer to your device so you can listen to them while on the go

  1. Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable, and then open Windows Media® Player on your computer.
  2. On the Device Setup dialog box, enter a name for your device and click Finish.
  3. On the left panel of Windows Media® Player, right- click the name of your device and click Set Up Sync
  4. Select the playlist(s) that you want to sync between your computer and device, then click Add Click Finish

Listening to Music

  1. On the Home screen, slide to the Music tab.
  2. Browse through the albums or tracks within album by swiping up or down on the screen, then touch to start playing back the displayed song.
